Alaska Cruise Season

The cruise season runs from May to September, with some smaller ships running in April as well. May is the driest month of the main season (15-20mm average rainfall). June to August are the warmest months with temperatures around 10-27 oC during the day but cooler at night.

July and August are the most popular months. May sees the wildflowers at their peak and September brings the autumnal palette of colours in the “fall” foliage but in both these months the weather is more likely to be unpredictable.

Alaska’s climate is inconsistent and it’s not uncommon for more than one season to be crammed into one day so the trick is to dress in layers.
