Icy Strait Point, where only one ship is allowed to dock each day, is a renovated cannery next to a Tlingit native village in the wilderness. Shuttle buses operate to Hoonah, the largest Tlingit village in Alaska. Icy Strait is the gateway to Glacier Bay and the sea and land in this area are ideal for wildlife sitings; whales, grizzly bears and bald eagles. Get out in nature, view Glacier Bay from the air, cruise with the whales, search for brown bears, listen to Tlingit Native stories, go Kayaking, experience Tlingit culture, book a charter fishing excursion, watch the wildlife, ride the world's longest ZipRider™, or do it all. At Icy Strait Point, there is an excursion for everyone.
Come along and explore the wilderness around Hoonah Alaska. Travel along remote un-improved roads into the depths of the Alaskan forest where you will observe the brown bear as they fish in the many streams and creeks full of salmon. Or you may find them just walking down a road or browsing the berry patches. Eagles, Sitka black tailed deer, and many smaller animals can be seen as well. You will also be given the opportunity to walk along trails overlooking creeks and streams if you desire.
