Homer is a quaint town nestled on the shore of Kachemak Bay on the southwest side of the Kenai Peninsula offering breathtaking views of glaciers, mountains and wildlife. It is known to many as the 'Cosmic Hamlet by the Sea,' and another nicknames is "the end of the road". A popular local bumper sticker characterises the town as "Homer - A quaint little drinking village with a fishing problem."
Its most distinguishing feature is the Homer Spit, a narrow 4.5 mile long gravel bar that extends into the bay. The Spit is home to the harbour and over 700 charter and commercial boat operators year round, growing to 1,500 in the summer months.
Homer offers all the amenities of a small, first class city and it is the gateway to superb outdoor Alaskan adventures. Tours are available for brown bear viewing, guided kayak trips, hiking, seabird rookery, flight seeing, glacier viewing, horseback riding, sailing, glacier skiing, and more!
